Automatic Generation of Software Quality Analysis Tools - The Case of Fractal Metrics

A fundamental goal of software engineering is the development of high quality software at low cost. Attention to software quality is important in software development not only because of its influence on long-term corporate profitability, but primarily because of increasing persuasiveness of software in everyday life. There is no doubt that software quality is recognised as a key factor within the industry. There are various definitions of software quality and various ways how to achieve it. The most usual approach is on achieving more effective control of the IS design process, emphasising the need for improved project management and the introduction and subsequent enforcement of standards and metrics. Unfortunately conventional software metrics have failed to perform the measurement job in many cases. To overcome the weaknesses of conventional metrics and their design and usage we followed the metric's life cycle model to design a new class of metrics called fractal metrics.
